Hailing from the city of New Orleans, Strange Roux is a high energy Rock N’ 
Roll band with influences both old and new. Rooted in the sounds of the Louisiana 
swamp, the group brings a thick, heavy vibe steeped in sweet melody and hard 
hittin’ rhythm. As their debut EP Boogieman was welcomed by local publications 
with rave reviews in Offbeat Magazine, Where Ya’t Magazine, and Antigravity the 
roux krewe quickly took off on the local scene.

The members – Kennedy Kuntz (vocals),  Jason Kareores (guitar/slide), Cody Lee (guitar), Matt Schmitt (bass), and Ana De Ferreira (drums) – have grown tight over years as a unit melding histories
of love, heartbreak, and Louisiana livin’ into an authentic recipe all their own.
Today, Strange Roux is working hard on new recordings, videos, and more for their
growing fan base while trying to expand their live experience to new audiences as well

The band has had successful showings at New Orleans venues such as 
Tipitina’s, Howlin’ Wolf, Blue Nile, d.b.a, One Eyed Jacks, and has also had success at various festivals and venues across 
the southeast region. The group has shared the stage with The Revivalists, Lost bayou Ramblers, Naughty Professor, Honey Island Swamp Band, Dax Riggs, Luke Winslow King, Papa Mali, Johnny Sketch and The Dirty Notes and many other local and national acts. They have also had residencies locally on Frenchmen street at venues like Blue Nile and 30/90.

In 2026, Strange Roux released their latest E.P, Midnight Dancer. It was produced by Andre Bohren and mixed, engineered, and mastered by Jack Miehle. It was welcomed with positive reviews by local magazines such as Anti-Gravity. Midnight Dancer is currenty available on all streaming formats.
